Abstract

1281931 Coating rollers BELOIT CORP 21 1969 [18 Dec 1968] 51583/69 Heading B2L [Also in Divisions D2 and F2] A doctor blade bears against a roll which is covered by a nonwoven mat wrapping bonded with a thermosetting resin. This mat preferably has a tensile strength of at least five pounds per inch before bonding. The mat may be prepared from fibrers of nylon, cellulose, polyester, cellulose acetate, asbestos, cotton, sisal, polyamide, rayon, polyolefin, glass or of acrylic fibres. The thermosetting resin may be phenol-formaldehyde, urea-formaldehyde, melamine-formaldehyde, alkyd resin, polyester, epoxide or acrylic resins. The resin may be applied to the mat before or after the mat is applied to the roll. The bonded mat surface may be machined after application.
