Abstract

1281889 Telescopic shock absorbers ARMSTRONG PATENTS CO Ltd 18 Sept 1969 [19 Sept 1968] 44554/68 Heading F2S A telescopic shock absorber is provided with an annular buffer 26, which surrounds the pistonrod 16 outside the cylinder 12, is secured to the cylinder, and has an internally projecting wiper lip 32. The buffer is secured by lugs 34 mating in holes or by bonding to an annular platform 28, a flange 30 of which is a push fit on the cylinder end. Dirt outlet holes 36 and slots 38 are provided, and there may be more than one wiper lip 32. The buffer prevents contact between the cylinder 12 and a vehicle frame to which the piston-rod 16 is attached.
