Abstract

1281496 Treating surfaces electrically SOFTAL ELKTRONIK GmbH 19 April 1971 [26 March 1970] 25585/71 Heading C7E The surface activity, in particular bonding characteristic, of electrically conductive carrier strips is improved by subjecting the surface of the strip to a high frequency and high gradient alternating electrical field formed between two electrodes, the strip forming one electrode and being fed over and in direct contact with a roller electrode which forms the other electrode, the surface of which comprises a solid dielectric material. The strip may comprise aluminium foil, compound metal and non-metal foils or conductive paper and the dielectric may a synthetic plastics material such as epoxy resin or polyester compound or glass. The strip may be fed over two such roller electrodes rotating in opposite directions if both surfaces are to be treated. More than one roller electrode per surface may be provided. Degreasing of strips for increasing adherence of printing inks and colouring materials is referred to.
