Abstract
1280905 Toilet pan connector G M CUPIT 25 July 1969 [30 July 1968] 37413/69 Heading F2G An opening in a toilet pan is connected to a pipe by means of a connector of resilient material comprising two tubular portions of unequal diameters but having parallel axes, one of the tubular portions being in female sealing engagement with a spigot surrounding the pan opening and the other tubular portion being in female sealing engagement with the pipe, the tubular portions being interconnected by an integral diaphragm having at least one frustoconical portion. As shown in Fig. 2, the diaphragm 4 interconnects the mid-point of the smaller tubular portion 1 and the end of the longer portion 2. In an alternative form (Fig. 3, not shown), the diaphragm has a plurality of concentric corrugations. In a further form (Fig. 4), the diaphragm comprises two frustoconical portions joined at their large diameter ends, the small diameter end of each such portion being joined to one of the tubular portions. The tubular portions are shown as offset, but may be coaxial (Fig. 4, not shown). The tubular portions may be tapered internally and may bear annular ribs (e.g. 8, Fig. 2) to improve sealing. Band clips may also be used to ensure a leak-free joint.
