Abstract

1280599 Packages KRAFTCO CORP 24 March 1970 [28 March 1969] 14249/70 Heading B8C The wrapper 15 of a cheese slice 13 is of metal foil 17 with an acid resistant coating 19 and has overlapped ends 37 and 39, the lower of which is turned under so that an area 43 of the foil is in contact with the cheese. It is stated that by thus increasing the area of the foil which is exposed to the cheese, compared with a conventional package, corrosion of the foil is prevented. The ends 37 and 39 are not fastened together so that they may easily be pulled apart to break heat seals (25 and 27) along two edges of the package, Fig. 3 (not shown). The packages are formed by folding a web about a series of slices and then sealing and cutting the web between the slices, Fig. 4 (not shown). The coating may be of polyethylene or vinyl plastic.
