Abstract

1280240 Mixing in tortuous passages ARTHUR GUINNESS SON & CO DUBLIN Ltd 23 April 1971 [4 May 1970] 21252/70 Heading B1C [Also in Division G3] A device for generating foam in the course of dispensing a beverage containing gas in solution comprises a plate 2 having a plurality of apertures 3 which direct jets of liquid at the upstream face 4a of a baffle 4 having a peripheral clearance in the liquid flow path. The apertures cause cavitation with consequent generation of foam in the chamber between the plate and the baffle. The device may be installed in a dispensing nozzle upstream or (preferably) downstream (see Fig. 3, not shown) of a dispensing valve. The distance between the plate and baffle may be adjustable and is preferably not greater than the diameter of the flow path. The apertures are preferably 0.025 to 0.050 inches diameter.
