Abstract
1277474 Fluid-pressure brake control systems WESTINGHOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO Ltd 19 March 1970 [15 April 1969] 19142/69 Heading F2F [Also in Division H3] Apparatus for correcting spin or slide of a vehicle wheel, in which the tractive or braking force is modified when a signal representing the rate of change of peripheral speed of a wheel exceeds a predetermined value, incorporates an arrangement for testing the proper operation of the apparatus, by applying thereto a signal from a circuit which includes an oscillator the output signal frequency of which can be caused to vary at either of two rates of change, one of which is above and one below the predetermined value. In the circuit shown, closure of switch SW1 produces oscillation by the alternate charging of capacitor C1 via diode D1 until the transistor VT1 conducts, and consequent discharge of the capacitor through the winding W1, which is coupled by secondary winding W2 to the apparatus under test. Upon opening switch SW1, the frequency of oscillation varies at a rate determined by the rate at which the transistor emitter voltage varies due to the discharge of capacitor C2 through resistor R5. Switch SW2, diode D2; and capacitor C3, permit the production of a different rate of change of frequency. If an increasing, rather than a decreasing, frequency is required, resistors R5 and R7 are connected instead between the switches SW1, SW2 and their respective capacitors C2 and C3.
