Abstract

1276850 Fastenings WALSALL LOCKS & CART GEAR Ltd and ROVER CO Ltd 28 Oct 1969 [12 Dec 1968 6 June 1969] 59112/68 and 28650/69 Heading E2A A lever 4 operating two bolts 18 for a vehicle tail-board, is held in the fastened, released, or an intermediate position by a pin 13 which lies between or engages in notches 11 in detent levers 6a or 6b pivoted at 7 and loaded by spring 8. The detents tend to return the lever from its releasing position to the intermediate position at which the tail-board may be slammed shut by virtue of the chamfered end 33 of the bolts. The tail board 26 is located by eyes 30 engaging pins 31 projecting from the striker plate 27, Fig. 5. The detent arms may be replaced by a U-shaped clip element 35 having recessed arms to locate a pin 40 on the lever, Fig. 7. In further modification, Fig. 9, a pin 44 loaded by spring 43 engages dimples 44, 45 to act as detents. The handle may carry the pin and the plate have the dimples or vice-versa.
