Abstract

1276210 Openers UNISEARCH Ltd 19 June 1970 [23 June 1969] 29916/70 Heading DIN [Also in Division B8] Fibres are opened by two cylinders having backward sloping pins, the first cylinder 11 is mounted so that during rotation its pins penetrate fibres on conveyor 10 and carry them round. The fibres are removed from the first cylinder and forced onto the pins of the second cylinder 13 by plate 18. The second. cylinder rotates faster than the first cylinder so that the fibres are subjected to a drafting action. The fibres are removed from the second cylinder 13 by plate 21 and are carried away by drafting rolls 23, 24 and conveyor 25. Preferably the plates 18, 21 have slots therein through which the pins pass. In an alternative embodiment, plate 18 is replaced by a third similar cylinder (Fig. 2).
