Abstract
1275937 Unloading rail waggons TOPPS PATENTS Ltd 26 Sept 1969 [27 Sept 1968] 47449/69 Heading B8E Apparatus for discharging loose material from a confined space such as a rail waggon comprises a frame 1 movable along rails 3 to position a discharge conveyer 4 mounted on a gantry 6 in a waggon to extract material through a side door. The gantry 6 raisable and lowerable on the frame 1 has two horizontal rails 7 on which run wheeled carriages 1 supporting material moving means such as blades 9 provided, as in Fig. 4 (not shown), with a leading scraper edge 7 and an additional rear blade 9 joined by ribs 8. In use with the gantry 6 raised the conveyer 4 is moved sideways on the rails 3 to be positioned to discharge through a side door and the blades 9 are moved outwards to the ends of the waggon by driving sprockets 13 engaging chains 12 attached to the blades and the gantry is then lowered into the material and moved towards the conveyer 4 to move material towards it. This cycle is repeated until the blades 9 scrape the waggon floor and due to their shape closely approach the conveyer to ensure maximum extraction.
