Abstract
1,273,472. Gas burner igniters. APPLICATION DES GAZ. 10 March, 1970 [13 March, 1969], No. 11351/70. Heading F4F. An ignition device for burners comprising a liquefied gaseous fuel container 1, an outlet valve 3 from the container into a flash tube 10, and a serrated wheel and flint arrangement 17, 14 for ignition of gas circulating in the tube 10, the flame produced progressing along the tube to the outlet, where it is stabilized by the presence of a pilot flame provided by a pilot tube 26. To operate the device, the push-button 21 is pushed, against the action of springs 23, to rotate the serrated wheel 17 via a spindle 18 and a drive roller 20, simultaneously opening the gas valve 3 by means of a lever 25, which lifts a plug 8, integral with the valve stem 7 of the valve 3. Gas flows into the tube 10 through a nozzle 9, air enters the tube through air inlets 10a, and the mixture is ignited by sparks from the flint, which enter the tube through an opening 10b. A pilot tube 26, fixed at one end in the nozzle 9 provides a jet of gas unmixed with air which is ignited by the main flame to provide a pilot flame. The tube 26 is centred at the outlet end of the tube 10 by means of a metal clip 27a (Fig. 3, not shown) lodged in a groove 10c in the tube 10. Any other suitable ignition device, for example a piezo-electric device, may be used instead of the wheel and flint arrangement.
