Abstract

1273080 Bag manufacture G HANSEN 17 April 1970 [7 May 1969] 18401/70 Headings B5D D2B1 D4E D4A and D4C [Also in Division B5] In a method of producing a draw-cord bag a two-ply web closed at side 3, Fig. 1, and open at side 4 is intermittently passed from roll 1 to device 6 separately seaming edges 4 at 10, device 7 punching a hole 28, Fig. 4, through the seams and straddling lines 5 along which the bags are separated and side sealed at 19, to feed 9 where a cord, or preferably two spaced cords 16, 17 from reels 8 are laid inside the seams and entrained by rollers 11, device 12, 13 welding at 14 the seams to the bag walls and to a cord-end connecting device 15, preferably a plastics injection-moulding device, whereby the connectors join the cords in the seams within the holes 28 to form an annulus or continuous loop, the connectors acting as finger pulls for the cords.
