Abstract

1,272,918. Acrylic fibres. JAPAN EXLAN CO. Ltd. 16 June, 1970 [16 June, 1969], No. 29240/70. Heading B5B. [Also in Division D1] Fibrous textile products, e.g. yarn, comprise acrylic fibres B containing basic groups and amphoteric acrylic fibres A containing both basic and acidic groups, the fibres satisfying the inequality in which X and Y are the respective m.eq./kg. of basic and acidic groups in fibres A and Z is the m.eq./kg. of basic groups in fibres B. The products show tone-on-tone dyeing when dyed from a single bath containing an anionic dyestuff. Other fibres, non-substantive to such dyes may be present, e.g. acidic acrylics, polyesters, cellulosics or specially treated polyamides and the dyebath may contain dyes substantive to these fibres. The fibres A and B may be as described in Specification 1,272,918. In an example a copolymer of acrylonitrile with methyl acrylate and N,N-dimethylaminoethyl acrylate or a blend of this copolymer with a copolymer of acrylonitrile, methyl acrylate and sodium methallylsulphonate are wet spun from cone. aq. NaCNS into dilute aq. NaCNS, the fibres stretched 10 x in boiling water, dried at 105‹ C. and 60% R.H. and heat-treated at 105-120‹ C.
