Abstract

1,272,308. Spring upholstery. N. SAITO. July 29, 1969 [July 30, 1968; Nov. 9, 1968], No.38042/69. Addition to 1, 133, 804. Heading A4M. A seat comprising sinuous springs 3 extending between front and rear frame members 1, 2 includes a front frame member 1 with an L-shaped cross-section with one limb turned over to define a U-section portion 5, Fig. 2, the semi-circular ridge of which is formed with a pair of spaced openings 6 which receive one end of a spring 3. The straight part of the spring end engages beneath a bridge 7 and curved portions locate against shoulders 8. The rear frame 2 may comprise a hooked portion 9 in which seats the penultimate straight part 13 of the spring 3, the final straight portion 14 being received with the channel section of the frame 2. In another form of front frame, Fig. 5, the spring end is engaged in spaced springs A, A<SP>1</SP> formed as shown. In a further form of frame, Fig. 7 (not shown), suitable as either a front or a rear frame, two spaced openings (A, B) are respectively of the form used in Figs. 2 and 5.
