Abstract

1,271,149. Dampening apparatus. ADDRESSOGRAPH MULTIGRAPH CORP. 22 Dec., 1969 [24 Dec., 1968], No. 62476/69. Heading B6C. A rotary lithographic printing press has alternative dampening systems, one of which is brought into operation when a new printing plate is applied to plate cylinder 11 and the other of which operates to dampen the plate during printing. When a new plate is fed to plate cylinder 11, a roller 33 is brought into contact with the plate, and has a scrubbing action on it. Downward pivoting of main frame 13, so that a forme roller 14 of the dampening system operative during printing is caused to contact the plate, and moves subframe 30 to remove the roller 33, is preferably controlled by a timing circuit.
