Abstract

1,270,906. Hauling cables. C. J. P. LEBRE. 18 Dec., 1970 [26 Dec., 1969; 23 Jan., 1970], No. 60272/70. Heading B8B. A cable traction apparatus which operates by successive reciprocating movements of cable clamps is adapted to be operated manually by an oscillatable lever 2 or automatically by an engine 4 which through a crank arm arrangement 9, 22 selectively continuously oscillates the lever 2. A driving sprocket 14 of the engine 4 meshes with a sprocket 15 rigid with a sprocket 16 which drives an endless chain 18 over guides 24, 25 and over an idler roller 17. A crank-pin 19 pivoted to a pair of adjacent chain pins 20, 21 is pivoted to a connecting-rod 22 pivoted to a connecting arm 9, the latter being selectively coupled to a strap member 8 rigid with the lever 2, by means of a notched sleeve 12 slideable along the arm 9 and screw lockable to engage a projection 11 on the member 8. In the embodiment of Figs. 2, 3 (not shown), the connecting-rod and one arm are replaced by a two-section telescoping arm.
