Abstract

1,268,633. Joint-making packing. R. FORD. 3 April, 1969 [5 April, 1968; 22 Oct., 1968], Nos. 16614/68 and 50100/68. Heading F2B. A gasket comprises an apertured resilient metal plate 2 having on each side ductile metal rings 4, 6, 8 and 10 concentric with the aperture, the rings on opposite sides of the plate being in radially staggered relationship whereby, in use, when the gasket is compressed between two joint members, e.g. pipe flanges 12, Fig. 4, the plate is resiliently deformed by the rings. The rings may be held to the plate by an adhesive, e.g. nitrile or epoxy resin adhesive. The plate may be of stainless steel and the rings of copper or aluminium.
