Abstract

1,267,713. Containers for bottles &c. NEDERLANDSCHE WAPEN-EN MUNITIEFABRIEK DE KRUITHOORN N.V. 21 May, 1969 [22 May, 1968], No. 25974/69. Heading B8P. [Also in Divisions F3-F4] A container comprises a box 1 and a partitioned carrier 2, with at least two series of cooperating abutment members which vary the vertical position of the carrier inside the box according to the orientation of the carrier to the box before insertion, for cartridges 12, bottles &c., of different lengths. The carrier 2 has a platform 5 with a series of holes 6 separated by a longitudinal partition 7 and transverse partitions 8. The longitudinal partition 7 is shorter on one side of the platform 5 than the other, and has projections 17-20, offset toward one end of the carrier 2, formed on the taller side. As shown in Fig. 1, the projections 17-20 abut projections 13-16 formed on the bottom of the box 1. Recesses 21-24 are formed on the shorter side of the platform 5. Articles are held in position in the container by a cover 3 with a resilient lining 4 abutting the ends of the articles. With the carrier 2 rotated 180 degrees about its vertical axis prior to insertion and then inserted in the box, the projections 17-20 project between the projections 13-16, and the platform 5 is lower with respect to the cover 3, Fig. 2 (not shown). With the carrier 2 further rotated 180 degrees about its horizontal axis prior to insertion, and then inserted, the shorter side of the longitudinal partition 7 abuts the projections 13-16 and the platform 5 is further lowered with respect to the cover 3, Fig. 3 (not shown). Further rotation of the carrier 2 about its vertical axis prior to insertion, causes the projections 13-16 to engage in the recesses 21- 24 during insertion, and again lowers the platform 5 with respect to the cover 3, Fig. 4 (not shown). Alternatively the vertical positional variation of the carrier 2 can be achieved by ribs of varying height formed in the sidewalls of the box 1 in connection with arrangements of recesses formed in the edges of the platform 5, Figs. 6-12 (not shown). The spaces in the carrier 2 can retain articles of smaller diameter by the thickening of the partitions 7, 8 at 26, 27 and the introduction of the interrupted platform edge rib 25, which reduce the width of the partitions.
