A device for the mixing and administration of medicaments comprises a hypodermic syringe barrel 26, a tubular needle cover 46 and a medicament vial 52, said needle cover having one end sealed on a syringe barrel boss 44, the other end receiving the open end of the vial 52, said open end receiving a resilient stopper 54 slidable axially within the vial. The needle cover comprises an exterior barrel 50 and an interior thrust wall 48 interiorly threaded at 60 to engage with corresponding male threads 58 on a projection 56 of the stopper 54. Alternatively (Fig. 2, not shown) the vial (22) is held in place by an annular projection (25) on the inside of the exterior barrel (18). Syringe barrel 26 (Fig. 3) has an inner thrust barrel 28; its open end having internal threads 42 to engage with corresponding male threads 40 on a projection 38 of a stopper 36 of a second medicament vial 34. A needle 32 extends through end wall 30 of the syringe, and, in the storage condition, some way into each of the stoppers. The first oval 52 contains liquid medicament, and the second 34 may contain liquid medicament or dry lyophilized product. In the operation of the device, the vials are first screwed up on their threads until the stoppers are punctured by the needle and the contents of the vials are then intermixed by sliding of the vials inwards. A syringe (10) Fig. 2 (not shown) of conventional construction, may be used. In an alternative embodiment of the needle cover (Fig. 4, not shown) it may be made without the outer barrel.
