Abstract

1,265,884. Conveying and folding webs. NORDISKA MASKINFILT A.B. 4 June, 1969 [7 June, 1968], No. 28236/69. Headings DIN and D1S. A carded web is cross lapped or folded on a device comprising a feeder belt 16 and a continuously driven discharge belt 52 which travels at right angles thereto, and two conveyor belts 10, 11 with associated carriages 5, 6, to feed the web between the feeder and discharge conveyors 16, 52 and cross lap or fold it. The conveyor belts 10, 11 form an inlet opening 14 which is stationary below the feeder belt 16 and an outlet opening 51 provided on travelling carriage 6 which reciprocates over discharge conveyor 52. The travelling carriage 5 engages the belts and is displaced in such a direction and speed relative to the first carriage 6 that the conveyor belts are held under constant tension. The carriages 5 and 6 can be reciprocated by clamping carriage 6 to alternate runs of an endless drive belt. The speeds and directions of the carriages can be controlled by a wire 29 attached to the carriage 6 and causing movement of carriage 5 consequent on movement of carriage 6.
