Abstract
1,265,650. Boots, &c. J. RIEKER. 15 May, 1970 [21 May, 1969], No. 23757/70. Heading A3B. A pressure distributing element for use in closing the leg opening of a boot, e.g. a ski boot, consists of a first web 2 having a surface 3 shaped to conform to the leg and a second web 1 which passes between the opposite edges 11, 12 of the upper 9, 10 to close the leg opening and locate the edges 11, 12 with respect to each other. The element is moulded from rigid plastics material, e.g. polystyrene, and is detachably secured to the tongue 13 by means of a hook and loop fastener 4, 5 or press studs (not shown). The web 1 has projecting edges 6 which form grooves in which the edges 11, 12 of the upper 9, 10 are located. The element distributes the pressure exerted by the straps 14 which are used to secure the boot on the foot. (For Figure see next column)
