Abstract
1,262,490. Weft selector mechanism for shuttleless looms. WILSON & LONGBOTTOM Ltd. 13 June, 1969 [15 June, 1968], No. 28631/68. Heading DIE. In a gripper shuttle or rapier type loom, a weft selector mechanism comprises a plurality of weft guides g 1 , g 2 &c carried by levers 32 mounted on a sley 14 so as to move therewith, the levers being selectively movable to place its weft guide in a position for engagement by the gripper shuttle or rapier at the commencement of a pick. As shown the sley carries a front reed 4, rear reed 8 and a race block 16 along which the gripper shuttle 18 or rapier is guided. The levers 32 are pivoted on a shaft 30 carried by plates 28 secured to the sley and are selected, under the control of a jacquard or dobby, by cables 38. Springs 56 normally hold the levers in inoperative position and stops 52 determine their operative position. The levers 32 may alternatively be mounted on the reed cap 6.
