Abstract
1,262,133. Hair dryers. HOOVER Ltd. 13 Jan., 1969 [15 Jan., 1968], No. 1838/69. Heading A5R. A hood 10 for a hair dryer comprises rigid outer and inner shells 25, 26 separated to define an air chamber 27, the inner shell 26 being perforated and having a retractable extension 40 mounted thereon. The extension 40 is of the shape of part of a sphere, and is moulded from a transparent plastics material with a pair of integral pins 41 which extend through holes (42) in the inner shell 26 and which are secured in position by snap on clips (43). The travel of the extension is limited by a stop 44 on the inside of the shell 26 which engages a shoulder 46 of the extension, and a rivet 45 which limits the downward movement by engaging the same shoulder 46. Shells 25 and 26 are secured together by screws 29 in bosses 31 with their lower peripheral edges sealed by an annular gasket 31. When the hood is placed on a base unit (25) of the hair dryer as described in Specifications 1,262,132 and 1,262,131 the extension 40 is automatically retracted into the hood.
