Abstract

1,260,950. Collars on plastics/metal rods. AURIOL (GUILDFORD) Ltd. 5 Aug., 1970 [8 May, 1969], No. 23514/69. Heading B5A. A collar is formed on a plastics-sleeved metal rod by locating it in two dies on either side of a heating unit, securing one end of the rod, heating the sleeve between the dies to soften the plastics and moving one die along the rod to deform the sleeve and form the collar, before allowing the collar to reset. Heating may be effected by a R.7. induction coil. One die may be stationary, the other movable, and may be contoured to mould the material. The plastics may be polyvinyl chloride and the rod steel.
