Abstract

1,260,713. Automatic circuit - breakers. HUNDT & WEBER G.m.b.H. 10 March, 1969 [8 March, 1968], No. 12598/69. Heading H1N. An automatic circuit-breaker having an operating mechanism 6, release member 9, trip bar 18, and a pivotable intermediate latch lever 13 engaging the trip bar 18 and release member 9, is characterized by the trip bar 18 comprising two relatively adjustable and pivotable parts 21, 22, Fig. 3, or Fig. 5, and the intermediate latch lever 13 and trip bar 18 being mounted on the same support plates 10 as the operating mechanism 6. Tripping of the multipole circuit-breaker is by three bi-metal strips 39 engaging respective adjusting screws 31 on the trip bar 18, or by armatures of electromagnets 40 engaging respective arms 33 of trip bar 18, or by an inductive immediate switch-off. A release mechanism (not shown) has a lever 35 engaging an arm 34 of the trip bar 18 for additional tripping, or manual actuation is effected via an actuating button or lever (not shown) extending through the switch cover 36 and engaging an abutment 32 of the trip bar 18. The relative inclination of the trip bar parts 21, 22, is adjustable via a lever 24, pivoted at 23 to bear on a wedge-shaped support strip 26 on part 22, which is biased into engagement with the lever 24 by springs 29 arranged on pins 27 and also biasing the parts 21, 22, together. The current setting is visible on a scale 41 seen through a transparent cover-plate 38 which is removable to adjust the setting of lever 24 via its slotted head 25. Alternatively, a rotatable adjusting disc 47 formed with a slot 50 adjusts the inclination between the trip bar parts and the point of engagement between a wedge-shaped support strip 45 on the upper part and a lever 43 integral with the lower part and having an adjusting screw 44 engaging strip 45. Release member 9 has a pin 11 engageable in a slot 12 of latch lever 13, and the slot 12 is formed with an inclined bearing edge 53, 54, 55, Fig. 2 (not shown).
