Abstract

1,260,462. Boots, &c. KAGAN TEXTILES Ltd. 5 Feb., 1969 [29 Dec., 1967], No. 59165/ 67. Heading A3B. [Also in Divisions B4 and B5] An article of footwear, e.g. a shoe, has an upper made of a multi-ply flexible material permeable to air and water vapour and which comprises two outer layers 10 and 20 and an intermediate layer 16 sandwiched between them, the outer layer 10 comprising a closelywoven synthetic plastics textile material bonded by a layer 14 of water-resistant flexible adhesive to one surface of the layer 16 which is of a synthetic plastics foam material, the other surface of the foam material being bonded by a layer 20 of water-resistant flexible adhesive, separate from the layer 14 of adhesive to a layer of woven wool material (or a woven material having hair-like wavy strands similar to wool), which forms the outer layer 20. The surface 12 of the layer 10 may be plain, woven with a pattern or provided with a brushed finish.
