Abstract

1,257,394. Jaw crushers. BRIGHTON METAL COMPONENTS Ltd. 30 Oct., 1970 [14 Aug., 1969], No. 40598/69. Heading B2A. A jaw crusher for reducing cans, bottles and like waste comprises a fixed jaw 11, a movable jaw 12 and a feed hopper 26 which is isolated automatically from the crushing zone during loading. The hopper 26 comprises a V-shaped quadrant casing 27 .. 29 the sides 27 of which are slotted at 31 so that a lost-motion linkage 32, 33 draws up a plate 35 when the hopper is opened for loading and thus completely closes off the crushing zone before loading can begin. The movable jaw is driven by an electric motor 16 and eccentric 19, 20. The jaw may be oscillated at 70 cycles per minute over a distance of 1.25 inches. Both jaws may be patterned to prevent upward movement of material. Crushed material may be collected in a container e.g. a sack placed beneath a discharge aperture 23.
