Abstract
1,256,626. Retractive switches. CLEAR HOOTERS Ltd. 14 Oct., 1969 [25 Jan., 1969], No. 4344/69. Heading H1N. A waterproof push-button switch comprises a plunger 20 extending slidably through aperture 11 in an end cover 3. A sealing washer 25 together with a retaining cap 27 and the periphery of the plunger 20, define a cavity 30. The washer rubs against the plunger when it moves such that any water on it falls back into the cavity where it drains away through holes 28 in the cap. The plunger, which may be door operated, moves rectilinearly against the spring 22 such that the bridging contact 19 moves away from fixed contacts 7 and 14. In Figs. 3, 4 (not shown), a resiliently deformable domed sealing washer acts as a diaphragm causing any water within the cavity to be expelled on the outward stroke of the plunger.
