Abstract

1,256,553. Laminates. RIEGEL TEXTILE CORP. 22 Sept., 1969 [24 Sept., 1968], No. 46609/69. Heading B5N. [Also in Divisions B2 and D1] A web-forming machine comprises a means 20 for separating fibrous material into individual fibres, a fibre conveying air duct 40 which has a decreasing transverse cross-section, a plurality of compressed air nozzles 61 extending into the duct and being connected to a compressed air source and having individual air-regulator means 62, and a rotating foraminous fibrereceiving surface 72 which is fitted with means for creating a suction on the outer periphery thereof. The nozzles 61 are used to control the fibre air stream in the duct 40. As shown, a sheet of wet pressed wood pulp fibres 14 is passed between flat sheets 36, 36 to a lickerin 20 which disintegrates the sheet into individual fibres. The fibres pass through the tapering duct 45 fitted with nozzles and are collected on a rotating foraminous screen 70 or a sheet of paper or gauze 90 passing over the screen. A second sheet 98 is applied to the topside of the deposited fibres and the three layer laminate is fed to trimming and cutting device 100 which slits the sheet into longitudinal segments which are wound up.
