1,255,791. Vehicle dashboards. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. 7 May, 1969 [20 May, 1968], No. 23838/68. Heading B7H. [Also in Division H2] A dashboard assembly for a vehicle comprises an instrument panel 11, a tachometer or other instrument 13 secured in the panel 11 by retaining means operable by rotating the instrument relative to the panel, and a printed circuit board 22 mounted behind the panel 11 and carrying arcuate contact members 24 which are connected to conductors on the board 22 and are arranged to engage terminal pins 23 on the instrument 13 and maintain electrical contact therewith as the instrument is rotated relative to the board. The instrument 13 is inserted in a hole 12 in the panel 11 and has a pair of outwardly-directed posts 16 each of which passes through a respective slot 17 in the panel and rides up a ramp 18 as the instrument is rotated to compress a rubber sealing ring 15 and finally engage in a groove 19. Each contact member 24 has a channel shaped cross-section providing resilient limbs provided with longitudinal ribs 25 for gripping the associated terminal pin 23. The contact members 24 are inserted through arcuate holes in the printed circuit board 22 and retained by tags 26 which spring out to bite into the board and make good electrical contact with the conductors thereon.
