Abstract

1,254,756. Transport containers. BURGER EISENWERKE A.G. 21 July, 1969 [24 Aug., 1968; 31 Aug., 1968; 20 Feb., 1969; 24 Feb., 1969], No. 36646/69. Heading B8P. A container 1, particularly for air freight, has a door 6 of flexible construction formed of a number of parallel stiffening elements secured to a sheet. The door 6 may extend to the full height of the container 1 or may be fixed to a hinged portion 5. The portion 5 is hinged at its top edge and is held open by a stay, the portion 6 being rolled up and stowed on the outside of the open portion 5 (Fig. 4). Diagonal tension bands 18 are provided. The ends of the stiffening elements 9 engage grooves in side members 11. In one form, Fig. 12, a part 16 is hinged to the members 11 and when closed overlaps and retains the ends of the elements 9, locking means 17 for the part 16 being provided. In another form a strip on the front face of each member 11 has holes therein which register with holes in the members 11. When the holes are in register the ends of the elements can be passed therethrough and the strip is raised (or lowered) to move the holes out of register and so retain the elements 9 in the side members 11.
