1,252,125. Sterilizing process. DRAYTON CASTLE Ltd. and K. M. HENFREY. 7 Nov., 1968 [7 Nov., 1967], No. 50501/67. Heading A5G. Articles are sterilized in a chamber which is evacuated to 40-50 mm./Hg, a gaseous chemical sterilant, e.g. formalin vapour, is admitted, the chamber is evacuated to about 20 mm./Hg, more formalin vapour is admitted and the process, if desired, is repeated. After the final introduction of formalin vapour, steam is admitted to raise the temperature, e.g. to 80‹C., and the conditions are maintained for a sterilizing period, after which the chamber is again evacuated to remove formalin vapour.
