An adjustable footrest for a wheel chair comprises a footrest plate 15 mounted on a lower tubular member 12 which is telescopically fitted into an upper tubular member 11, the tubular members 11, 12 being non-circular in crosssection and being moveable relative to each other by the rotation of a screw-threaded bolt 16 which extends axially within the upper part of the upper member and engages the upper part of the lower member.
