Abstract

1,250,793. Cigarette packets. G. GERO, A. GERO, A. J. DISTEFANO, and D. W. DISTEFANO. 4 Dec., 1968 [25 Oct., 1968], No. 57658/68. Heading B8P. A cigarette packet having an inner container pivoted in an outer container and made from the blank shown in Fig. 1 comprises side panels 28, 30, rear panel 22, top panels 50, 52 and bottom panels 38, 40, on the outer shell, this shell having an open front; also panels 64, 68, 56 forming the side and rear panels of the inner shell, a tab so forming the hinge to the bottom panels 38, 40. A panel 44 connects the inner shell to the outer shell and pivots away from the rear panel 22 to allow the packet to be opened and a stop panel 60 abuts the top panels 50, 52 to limit the movement of the inner container. A tear off tab 90, 86 having portions 96, 98 secured to the outer side panels facilitates the initial opening of the packet. In a second embodiment (Fig. 17, not shown) the side and rear panels (28a, 30a, 122) of the outer shell are folded to U-shape and the outer rear panel is formed by extensions on the side panels, also the opening tab is of double thickness. In a further modification (Fig. 22, not shown) the opening tab (86c) is short and is not secured to the front wall (72c) of the inner container.
