Abstract
1,247,288. Sealing. CYCLOPS CORP. 1 Oct., 1969 [14 Oct., 1968], No. 48346/69. Heading B6P. Apparatus for fastening together lays of strapping material by die-cut notching comprises a fixed die 12 attached to a frame 6 pivotally mounted at 26 on a plate 3 and a slidable die 11 slidably mounted on the frame 6, the slidable die 11 being slidable towards the fixed die 12 by a toggle lever system comprising a first link 22 pivoted to the plate 3 and frame 6 at 26 and to a second link 23 at 24, the second link being pivoted at 28 to the slidable die 11, a force applied to the pivot point 24 between the links first causing sealing by aligning the links and further application of the force causing a projection 37 to engage a stop 60 whereby further pivotal motion of the link 22 with respect to the plate 3 is prevented and the further application of the force causes the frame to pivot about the point 26 to withdraw the dies 11, 12 from the sealing position. The force is applied by a piston 16 acted on by air pressure. The positions of the stop 60, the frame 6 and the slidable die 11 in rest position may be adjusted. A blade (40, Fig. 3) trims the strapping material.
