Abstract

1,246,490. Hose connectors. AUSCOTENG PTY. Ltd. 24 Sept., 1968 [25 Sept., 1967], No. 45208/68. Heading F2G. A tubular connector 1 has a bore section o substantially uniform cross-sectional area be tween two substantially equal, coaxial, restricted bore regions 2, 3, and a passageway 9 connects that bore region with the outside of the connector. The axial length of the bore section is greater than the difference in the diameters of the bore section and the restricted bore regions. As shown, the connector has internal ribs 2, 3, formed by spinning, which grip the hose 4, the latter, when subjected to internal pressure, being expanded into the space 7 between the ribs; air from the space passes to atmosphere through the passageway 9. The connector, alternatively, is moulded from plastics material. The connector may be formed as part of a tap, T-piece or sprinkler inlet. In modifications, the connector (a) is adapted to join hoses end-toend, and (b) has flared lead-in ends. The ribs may be non-symmetrical in cross-section.
