Abstract
1,242,860. Liquid-blast switches. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA A.B. 24 Dec., 1968 [29 Dec., 1967], No. 61310/68. Heading H1N. A low-liquid-content circuit interrupter having an extinguishing chamber 1 including a pressure accumulating space 8 partly filled with liquid to form a gas-filled space 9, and with outlet channels 11 crossing the arc channel 5 from space 8, is characterized by the provision of an exhaust channel 12 served by outlet channels 11 and leading to an expansion chamber 6 in the cover 2 of the chamber 1, space 8 and channel 12 being equi-distant from the arc channel 5. Space 8 and channel 12 have arcuate cross-sections and become narrower in the downwards direction, Fig. 3 (not shown). In order to effect the breaking of small currents, two liquid pockets 14 are provided. The openings from channels 11 into channel 12 are displaced relatively around the axis of the chamber 1. Arc channel 5 need not be central to the cylindrical chamber 1. Liquid may be pumped into channel 5 through a tubular movable contact 4, and via holes 15, when the interrupter opens. Alternatively, contact 4 is solid, and co-operates with a stationary tulip contact 3 providing an arcing contact part 13. A liquid separator (not shown) is arranged in opening 7 of cover 2.
