Abstract
124,197. Lorillard Co., (Assignees of Maloney, T. J.). March 13, 1918. [Convention date]. Wrappers.-A package of tobacco products or other commodities, is enclosed in a wrapper of greater length than the longitudinal perimeter of the package, the excess length of the wrapper being secured by adhesive to the underlying part of the wrapper. The wrapper is .secured to the package by adhesive, which may be applied to the whole face of the wrapper or may be applied in strips. As shown, the wrapper has an excess length part 17 and is equal in width to the width of the package and the two sides. The parts 15, 14, 13 are first applied to the base, end and top of the package and the wings 14<a> are tucked in. The parts 13a are then applied to the sides, and the parts 16, 17 are applied to the end and top. after which the wings 16a are tucked in, the parts 15<a> are turned upwards, and the parts 17<a> are turned downwards; or, the parts 17<a> may be applied before the parts 15<a>. The wrapper is provided with longitudinal strips 11, 12 of adhesive for securing the wrapper to the package and securing the folds together. The wrapper is only secured locally by the stripes 12 and can be readily opened by passing the finger on an implement under the edge of the part 17; or, the parts 16, 17 may be perforated on the lines 18 to provide a part 20 for tearing. The part 20 may be formed with a tab 19.
