Abstract
1,239,671. Electro-machining tools. ANOCUT ENG. CO. Jan.24, 1969 [Jan. 31, 1968], No.4260/69. Heading C7B. Apparatus for electrolytically machining conductive metal workpieces comprises a table 24 providing a workpiece supporting surface 30 and having an aperture 24A therein; means for supporting a workpiece 25 on said surface; an elongated member 27 extending through the aperture and provided with means for holding a cathode shaping tool spaced from the workpiece; and means for moving the workpiece-supporting table and the cathode support relative to each other. The apparatus may be used to tool the inner surface of a hollow workpiece. As shown the workpiecesupporting surface is formed by pads 30 on ring 28 which is rotatable relative to support ring 29, and may be secured by clamps 32. During such rotation, a blanket of compressed is provided between the rings 28 and 29. A cover 34 may be drawn over the apparatus during operation, and a tank 38 is provided to collect used electrolyte. The table is moveable in a direction parallel to its surface, and the cathode support is moveable in a direction parallel or perpendicular to said surface. Electrolyte may be supplied via a hollow cathode tool.
