Abstract
1,238,948. Reciprocating pumps. DAIMLERBENZ A.G. Sept.24, 1968, No.45311/68. Heading F1A. A reciprocating pump, such as an oil lubricating pump, has a stationery piston 22 and a moving cylinder 15 which reciprocates and rotates simultaneously to control the inlet and outlet of the pump by its rotation, the cylinder being actuated by an eccentric cam follower 18 which moves in a part cylindrical cam surface 25 thus providing reciprocation e.g. two oscillations/revolution. The worm gearing 12, 13 sets the pump cylinder 15 in rotation together with the plug 16, its collar 17 and the cam follower 18, the whole being pressed upwards by the spring 23<SP>1</SP>. The stroke of the pump can be adjusted by adjusting the screw 27 via the shaft 29 and hand lever 31, thus causing the extension 27<SP>1</SP> to project a required amount beyond the cylindrical surface 25. The travel of the screw 27 is limited by an adjusting disc (28) Fig.2 (not shown). The oil comes in through a supply line 10<SP>1</SP> and into two axial bores 33, 34, Fig.4 from which the two working chambers 40, 41 are fed via appertures 39 in the cylinder 15. As the cylinder rotates oil is discharged through the appertures 39 to the connections 38, 37 and 36, 35. In a modification Fig. 5 (not shown) two stationary pistons (46), (47) are provided resulting in three working chambers (48) (49) (50) and hence a total of six pressure connections are obtained.
