Abstract

1,236,641. Pipe support. BRITISH INDUSTRIAL ENG. CO. (STAFFS) Ltd. 12 May, 1969 [10 May, 1968], No. 22203/68. Heading F2S. A variable spring support, e.g. for a pipe is locked during installation by pins 29, which extend through nuts 27, lodged in slots 26 in the support casing 10, and enter apertures 25 in lugs 24 on the load-bearing plate 19 which rests on the upper end of a helical spring 21. The nuts 27 are adjusted in the slots 26 until, with the pins inserted, the plate 19 exerts the desired precompression on the spring. Then the nuts are welded in position. When the support is required to resiliently support a load the pins 29 are withdrawn and the spring 21 affords a variable support. The apertures 25 may be elliptical to allow for misalignment, and the pins 29 may have a threaded shank and a plain portion.
