Abstract

1,234,923. Packaging. MACHINEFABRIEK BREDA N.V. 14 Jan., 1969 [15 Jan., 1968], No. 2257/69. Heading B8C. In a machine for filling cartons 48 with glass jars 43 or the like which are separated by a protective web of cardboard 17 or the like, the jars are fed in in two closed rows with the web between them, the jars of alternate rows being pushed towards each other so that the web takes a sinuous form around them, the cardboard being then cut and the row pushed sideways into the carton. The interdigitation of the jars is done by toothed discs 22, 23 and 25, 26 having recesses 27, 28 for gripping the jars alternately. Jars fed along conveyer 13 are guided by rails 9, 10 on to conveyer 2 surmounted by guide-rails 3-9 dividing the jars into three streams, each with an interdigitating set of discs. Cardboard 17 is fed from reels 16. After interdigitation, the groups of jars 46 are guided by bars 33, 34, 35 and 36 forming three channels on to table 37 whereat cutter 38 severs the cardboard. The table executes a rocking movement and the jars are slid by a pusher (not shown) into carton 48.
