Abstract
1,234,405. Dicalcium phosphate. POWERGAS CORP. Ltd. 21 Aug., 1968 [23 Aug., 1967], No. 38780/67. Heading C1A. An intermediate product consisting at least principally of dicalcium phosphate is prepared by acidulating phosphate rock with aqueous HCl and separating the product. The product may be reacted with nitric or sulphuric acid to produce phosphoric or monocalcium phosphate depending on the amount of HNO 3 or H 2 SO 4 used. The phosphoric acid produced may be reacted with ammonia to give diammonium phosphate. The dicalcium phosphate product may be reacted with nitric acid and ammonium phosphate to produce a mixture containing calcium sulphate, ammonium nitrate and phosphoric acid, the calcium sulphate is removed and the remaining mixture is neutralized with ammonia to produce ammonium nitrate and monoammonium phosphate.
