Abstract

1,232,680. Ear-rings. E. A. ADAMS & SON Inc. 31 Dec., 1968 [5 Sept., 1968], No. 61924/68. Heading A3H. An ear-ring clamp comprises a base member 10 having a clamping member 14 pivotally mounted on a flat plate portion 13, at one end of the base member, an ornament receiving portion 11 being at the other end of the base member 10; lugs 21 of the member 14 frictionally engage plate portion 13, the upper ends of the lugs being angled towards each other to give a resilient frictional grip which is variable dependent on the area of contact between the lugs 21 and the plate 13. Since the member 14 can be adjusted to any position, the clamping force on an ear can be varied to any desired value. Member 14 is pivotally mounted by detents 22 engaging with recesses in plate 13. Alternatively, the plate portion can be on the clamping member and the lugs on the base member.
