Abstract

1383021 Ear-rings MONO CRAFT Inc 10 May 1972 [20 May 1971] 21912/72 Heading A3H An ear-ring for use with a pierced ear comprises a body portion 10 having two spaced apart ends 18, 20 and an ear-wire 12 for bridging the space between the two ends, one end of wire 12 being pivotally connectedto end 18 of body portion 10. End 20 of body portion 10 is arranged releasably to engage the free end of ear-wire 12 and includes a fork 26 comprised of a pair of spaced apart prongs 28. A slit 36 extends from between prongs 28 into body portion 10 so that the prongs are capable of resilient movement towards and away from each other so what the free end of ear-wire 12 can be received and releasably engaged between the prongs 28. As shown, the gap between prongs 28 consists of two areas 30, 32 having different cross-sections. The cross-sectional area of portion 32 is larger than that of portion 30 and is preferably the same as the cross-sectional area of the ear-wire 12. A bore 34 may be provided at the end of slit 36.
