Abstract

123,151. Deakin, F. B., (Roth, P., and Venturino, M. E.). Feb. 12, 1918. Addition to 106,042. Hydrocarbons, cracking. - In transforming heavy petroleum products into lighter hydrocarbons by spraying them into a retort containing heated petroleum residue, asphalt, &c., as described in the parent Specification, the temperature of the mass in the retort is gradually raised during the operation. For example, the temperature is raised from 360‹ C. to 420‹ C. at the rate of 2‹ C. per hour.
