Abstract

1,231,463. Vehicle headlamps. SOC. ANON. POUR L'EQUIPMENT ELECTRIQUE DES VEHICULES S.E.V.-MARCHAL. 8 May, 1968 [8 May, 1967], No. 21797/68. Heading F4R. A headlamp comprises a reflector 1 having an opening through which the bulb 4 can be inserted from the rear, a rearwardly extending tubular member 10 secured to the collar 2 surrounding the opening, and a resilient locking means which extends around the tubular member and includes projections 16 which are biased inwardly towards the axis of the tubular member, the projections including, or bearing against, surfaces which are inclined to this axis so that a force is exerted on the bulb-holder 3 urging it towards the reflector. The bulb-holder can be withdrawn by pulling it rearwardly to cause outward deflection of the projections. In the embodiment shown the projections are conical studs which are carried by an open resilient ring 18 and bear directly against the rim of the bulb holder, whilst in a second embodiment (Figs. 5 and 6, not shown) the studs bear against an intermediate member (22) which is mounted on the base (5) of the bulb by means of a split skirt (23) and abuts against the bulb-holder. In a third embodiment (Figs. 7 and 8, not shown) the locking means consists of a resilient wire (46) having three inwardly directed elbows (46a) which engage inclined surfaces (45) on the intermediate member (37), and in a fourth embodiment (Figs. 9-11, not shown) the intermediate member bears on the bulb-holder flange (48) and is held in position by a spring (49). In a fifth embodiment (Figs. 12 and 13, not shown) the intermediate member (57) has a skirt (56) which projects out of the tubular member (10), and the wire (46) has only two elbows (46a).
