Abstract

1,228,404. Vitreous coating. O'HOMMEL CO. 12 June, 1968 [9 Aug., 1967], No. 27980/68. Heading C1M. A fused fritted glaze having a maturing temperature between 850‹ and 1200‹ F. is formed as a vitreous coating on a structural building element by spraying on at least one such coating and then heating to a maximum temperature between 1000‹ and 1050‹ F. for one hour during a two-hour heating cycle. The sprayed-on composition may comprise 100 parts by weight of a frit expressed in parts by weight per cent of Na 2 O: 9À12-13À29; K 2 O: 2À3-2À86; Li 2 O: 1À8-2À41; SiO 2 : 20-32À17; TiO 2 : 0-7; PbO: 14-41; Sb 2 O 3 : 0-6; CaO: 0-6, 100 parts of which is generally mixed with the following in parts by weight: TiO 2 : 0-10; Bentonite: 1; Urea: 0-1; NaNO 3 : 0-0À5 ; colouring: 0-10 ; suspending clays or synthetic suspending agents: 0-15 ; water: 0-60; matting agent: 0-35. The structural building element may be sandstone, insulative board-like materials, composition shingles, conventional concrete building blocks and bricks, and aggregate containing concrete blocks employing limestone, furnace slag, sand, Haydite, Perlite in conjunction with cement.
