Abstract
1302460 Glass-ceramic body METALLGESELLSCHAFT AG 29 Sept 1970 [29 Sept 1969] 46358/70 Heading C1M A glass-ceramic body or coating is produced by mixing the clay and filler materials with a vitreous lithium aluminium silicate which contains 0À5 to 15% by weight of a flux such as B 2 O 3 , P 2 O 5 , PbO, Pb 3 O 4 , an alkali or alkaline earth metal fluoride, in which the molar ratio Ti 2 O : Al 2 O 3 : SiO 2 is from 1 : 0À15 : 2 to 1À0 : 1À0 : 8 and which optionally contains from 2 to 8 % by weight of a nucleating agent, forming the mixture into a body or applying it as a coating and firing. Preferably the mixture contains by weight 20-70% vitreous aluminium silicate,- 5-50% of clay and 5-20% of a filler such as aluminium oxide, quartz, cristobalite, mullite or zirconium silicate. When used as a coating the mixture is coated on to a porcelain substrate and fired at 1400‹ C.
