Abstract
1,226,771. Drafting apparatus. MASCHINENFABRIK RIETER A.G. 1 July, 1968 [13 July, 1967], No. 31256/68. Heading DID. A drafting mechanism comprises a rear top-roller saddle 9 mounted in a guide arm 1 with a guide e.g. a slot 10 for the holder 12 of the rear pressure roller and at the front end of the saddle 9 a bearing e.g. a pin 15 for a front saddle 16 having a holder 17 for the front pressure roller and a guide e.g. a slot 19 for the middle pressure roller holder 18, the guide for the holder 18 being in a different plane from that in which the guide for holder 12 is disposed. Thus when the apparatus is, as shown, adjusted for short staple lengths the holder 12 can be positioned beneath the guide 19. Fig. 2, not shown shows the apparatus adjusted for long staple lengths with holder 12 at the rearmost end of slot 10 and holder 18 at the rearmost end of slot. 19. Saddle 9 and arm 1 have a series of aligned holes in which the pin 7 may alternatively be mounted to vary the length of the pivot arm of saddle 9. Saddle 9 also has bores for receiving the pin 15 on which the saddle 16 is pivoted.
